Education Officer

Department:  Education and protection Department
Location: Taiz, Yemen
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Duration: 7 Months.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To support MDF team in planning, coordination, implementation and reporting of education projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow up proactively with programme team and management to ensure education programs are relevant to education context in Yemen and humanitarian response plans and suggest updates for MDF education programs to adhere to these priorities.
  • Preparing and writing quarterly and final reports for projects in a professional manner.
  • Work with MDF to implement education strategy, collecting data from the field as per the action plans of the relevant projects.
  • Manage education projects, including projects writing, prepare action plans, review M&E plans, reporting and all related supervision for quality tasks.
  • Researching grant proposals and funding opportunities and develop concept notes/proposals and budgets.
  • Developing relationships with relevant clusters, various community, governmental and other nonprofit organizations to raise funds and awareness and build resources.
  • Implementing programs and projects to help MDF meet goals and objectives
  • Apply project management knowledge regarding planning, staffing, budgeting, scheduling and reporting.
  • Implement training programs and awareness sessions regarding the achievement of the objectives of the Foundation and its fields& forming and supporting the committee .
  • Evaluating and reporting on the work of teachers and on the progress of the teaching of the subject/area in schools.
  • Evaluating and ensuring the quality and standards of teaching and learning in schools and Colleges; 
  • Participating and contributing effectively in educational programmes, both during and after school hours; 
  • Contributing towards the organization and provision of professional development; 
  • Ensuring that the policies and provisions laid down in the Education Act.
  • Providing advice, input, support and monitoring in connection with curriculum development, management, eLearning and quality assurance development, management and implementation at Directorate, school and other educational institution level, in both the State and non-State school sector. 
  • Advising, supporting and monitoring educational programmes in schools.
  • Integrating the gender perspective in programmes and initiatives of the Directorates.
  • Assisting in the professional development of staff. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and business planning. 
  • Evaluating and reporting on the work of teachers and on the progress of the teaching of the subject/area in schools.
  • Coordinate with relevant government directorates and community leaders to facilitate implementation of the project activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the distribution and registration team.
  • Ensure report formats are used properly and distribution reports are submitted on time, followed up on, and finalized in a timely manner and support where issues arise to mentor and improve over time.
  • In consultation with local authorities and communities, facilitate the list of beneficiaries and ensure the verification and registration process are conducted in accordance to pre-set selection criteria.
  • Coordinating and communicating with support teams (HR, Finance, Logs & Ops, and Security) on project related issues.
  • Following up with donor requests.
  • Facilitate effective coordination with the Planning Department and Executive units in the targeted Governorates to insure the best coordination with the local Authority. 
  • Participate and contribute to development of the weekly, and monthly plans.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly reports or updates.
  • Ensure adherence to the principle and objectives of the project and donors policies.
  • Ensure tracking of project indicators at all levels (activities, results, objectives and goal).
  • Any other task as assigned by the line manager, or MDF Director.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or civil Engineering or in a related field of  study.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Education and protection /GBV.
  • Excellent understanding and practical experience with MS Office application, especially MS Word and Excel.
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice, including collecting gender and age dis-aggregated data.
  • Ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn and take on new tasks Desirable
  • Evidence of working independently and operating with minimum supervisor, adaptable and flexible.
